I must say right now I am a bit obsessed with the Obama frenzy and what it means for Black people, not only here in the U.S. but across the globe. It is a complex subject of which there are many commentators. For sometime to come Aithiops will gather information relating to Obama and the impact of his rise on people of the African Diaspora, especially those living in the United States. If he wins the election we will all probably be focused on him for years. If he does not, then the focus will not be as intense. A loss will not push him off the world stage. He is here to stay and we shall cover him.

Please take the time to read some of the articles I have found. It is important to have some knowledge of the range of opinions. I hope to share some of my thoughts soon.

She affirmed Tom Hayden's insistence on the Progressives for Obama blog that the candidate is a progressive, but a new kind of progressive, or some such twaddle.  Read More

Forty-seven years after he last looked out from behind the bars of a South Carolina jail cell, locked away for leading a march against segregation in Columbia, James Clyburn occupies a coveted suite of offices on the second and third floors of the United States Capitol, alongside the speaker and the House majority leader.

My View: Principles, not color, determine support
by Jimy E. Greene Tuesday August 05, 2008

I find it interesting when I hear or read that this presidential campaign is supposed to transcend race and take us to uncharted waters on the conversations regarding this hot-button topic. I'm not sure I buy into that.
